This years ESPN Action Sports Ski& Snowboard Video Awards chose the Pirates for best cinematography with their latest production.
„Hooked“- also presenting the two ZIMTSTERN riders Hans Ahlund and Björn Hartweger – was awarded not only for its top-notch riding but especially for its perfect blend of crispy high-def shots and grainy film clips.
The clean edits, the shots from all possible angles, the way the Pirates framed it and the fact that they shot real film made it a very special movie and a true eye-candy! That seemed to have impressed the jury and made it one of the TOP10 films 2010!!!
Zimtstern congratulates and is proud to be part of it!
Last winter Zimtstern Snowboard Team Rider Björn Hartweger was on tour around Europe to gather exclusive pictures for the 2010 Pirates movie “Hooked“. Zimtstern Team photographer Dominic “Howzee” Zimmermann has taken this shots when the two of them and the filmers of the Pirates were guests at Hans Åhlunds house in Umeå, Sweden.
Björn is wearing the parka jacket Marker in green mélange out of the Zimtstern BEAT-line in combination with the most baggy pant in the whole collection, the Kit Oxford in orange. City beat meets jib style. Jacket and pant are fleece lined to prevent from freezing even at Swedish sub-zero temperatures. Björn completes his outfit with the beanie Lost and the pipe gloves Snatch.
For the 10th time, the Junior Open kicks off the freestyle season at the European Snowboard hub, Laax.
Just as every year the young guns gather at the second weekend in december (2010/12/11&12) at Crap Sogn Gion. They compete in Halfpipe: starting with qualifications on Saturday, the big finals will happen on Sunday. Everyone under 20 is welcome to drop in the Superpipe. For the first time this year the Junior Opens are part of the TTR-Worldtour and a total prize money of CHF 3000.- is waiting for the winners. So you better hurry up to register and be one of the 100 starters.
As it’s the 10th birthday, Zimtstern and Laax will care for a special surprise. But, to keep the gossip factory busy, we won’t tell you more right now.
Welcome to the Zimtstern Snowboard Team:
Daniel “Plazy“ Neulichedl
Plazy is well known for his calm and professional personality and his smooth style. The tall Italian kills all the rails and loves massive powder kickers. He belongs to the heart of the Italian snowboard community and goes filming with the “Random“ video production crew who just released their 2010 movie “Too much too serious“. If he is not shooting for the movie somewhere around Italy, Plazy and his Fakieshop team buddies are spending their season shredding the parks of Val Senales and Alpe di Siusi, back home in South Tyrol. Stay tuned about Plazy’s season here on the Zimtstern Blog!

Zimtstern Snowboard Team Rider Colin Frei and his friends of the Isenseven Crew started their premiere Tour around Switzerland with stops in Olten and Luzern last weekend… what a mess! Thanks Howzee for those unbeatable snap shots. Well peops, you think “bugger, i missed that”… Don’t panic. There are more premieres coming up:
Zimtstern Snowboard Team Rider Hans Åhlund tells us something about the Pirates Premiere at his hometown:
“Allright so it was the video premiere of the Pirates new flick “Hooked“. It was this year’s closest premiere stop to the north pole: Umeå. Where I’m currently living. The local skate and snowboard crew “Randombastards” hosted the Pirates at Scharinska villan. Not only the movie was a big success but we also had some live hiphop on stage featuring George Kaplan of Trainspotters who had songs in the 2 last Pirate movies. Later the Academics and the Boss where spining Vinyls all night.“
